This guide will walk you through the simple steps of creating your own macros for Eve Online.
You will need a program called Macro Express, and can download the shareware version from
http://www.macros.com/
If you have problems finding the shareware version
let me know.
It is a safe program that has been in use for years with no hidden spy ware
attached to it. You can also use this program for a number repetitive items
in Eve such as broadcasting a recruitment statement in recruitment channel,
turning on a shield booster every 60 seconds, even starting up or logging
off your character in Eve!
With Macro Express, you can record, edit and play back mouse and keyboard macros.
What is a Macro?
A macro is a set of commands that can be played back at will to perform a given task. These tasks can be something simple such as inserting your name and address into a word processor to something more complex such as launching a program, copying data from it, activating another program, pasting the data into it and repeating this several times. Tasks performed by macros are typically repetitive in nature allowing significant savings in time by executing the macro instead of manually repeating the commands.
To get you started fast I will walk you through a basic mining macro, which will move ore from your ship’s cargo hold to a floating cargo hold in space.
Once you feel comfortable with this, we will move onto a more advanced macro which will undock your ship, warp to the asteroid belt, mine warp back to the station, dock unload your ore and repeat itself.
Step 1:
Start up Eve and once in the game hit the esc key; this will take you to the settings. On the Generic tab click “Auto Reject Invitations”. This will prevent someone from trying to convo you while running a macro. Now go into the Graphics tab and change your screen to window mode.
Macro express will run in full screen mode, however it’s easier to learn in window mode.
Step 2:
Fly out to an Asteroid belt in a 0.9 system that has lots of ore, a station with a factory and Reprocessing plant. The best 0.9s can be found by using your map. Go into the Display Settings and click the Stars tab. Once it loads click show by Security Status. The best 0.9s are the one’s closest to 0.0 space or on the outer rim of empire space. They will show up as light blue dots.
Step 3:
Lock on a couple of rocks and start mining, when you have some ore in your holds jettison the ore and open the floating container so you have 2 rectangles on your screen. One being your ship’s cargo hold the other the floating cargo hold.
Step 4
Alt tab out of Eve to your desktop and open up Macro Express. On the left-hand side you will see a capture icon click that looks like a camera click this icon. An Add Macro screen will pop up, hold down the Ctrl key and then push the M key. Now click the Capture Macro button. A warning screen will come up and simply click yes to continue. Give your “Ctrl M Macro” a Nickname such as mining test1. Now click Start Capture, A Double Alt Warning screen will pop up.
DON’T CLICK OK yet.
Step 5
Alt tab back into Eve and click OK on the Double Alt Warning Screen (note this only appears in window mode). Move your mouse over to your ships cargo hold and right mouse click to select all. Grab the ore and move it over to the floating cargo hold, pause 5 seconds. (The 5-second pause allows for game lag and helps the macro run smoothly.
Step 6
Hold down the Ctrl key and hit M. A screen will pop up indicating the Capture is complete. Click Ok and go back to the Macro Express. Scroll down the list of macros until you see the macro you have just created “ Mining Test 1” and right mouse click on it. Scroll down to “ Edit with Scripting Editor” and left mouse click on this line.
Under commands scroll down to the Repeat icon and left mouse click on it. Click on “ Repeat Start” Now just to the right of this screen are three arrows click on the top one with the blue plus sign. A repeat screen will appear, enter 100 into the repeat count and click Ok.
Now under commands click the Repeat End; click the bottom arrow with the red plus sign. Do a file save and your Marco is ready to use.
Step 7
Alt tab back into Eve and hold down the Ctrl key and hit M your macro will start.
To stop your macro at anytime hold down the Scroll lock key and then push the Pause key.
Comfortable with making a macro, lets try an advanced macro which will
undock your ship fly out to the ore field mine redock unload the ore and
repeat.
Now fly out to the Asteroid field, pick a rock in the middle of the field
and lock it, make a bookmark and call it ore.
Expand your overview settings ( top right corner), and left mouse click overview to go into settings. Click Deselect All. Now go through the list and only click Veldspar, Scordite, Pyroxeres and Plagioclase.
These will now appear in your overview settings, click the distance tab to sort them showing the closest rock first.
Warp back to the station and dock, open up your ship hanger and your cargo hold so 2 rectangles are on your screen one above the other. I use the ship hanger for dropping my ore into as the items hanger will get loaded with ore and can stop your macro from working. When you dock and drop your ore into the ship hanger it will automatically go into your item hanger.
Ok everything should be set to make the advanced mining macro.
Start up macro express and begin a capture, using Ctrl Z this time.

Pause 5 seconds
Left mouse click on the screen to bring up your bookmark, scroll down to
Ore and right mouse click on " Warp to location within 0m "
Once you’re at the Asteroid belt, pause 5 seconds
Move your mouse over to the Overview settings box and lock the first rock.

ore.
Pause 5 seconds
Move your mouse over the left top of the screen where system name is and
left mouse click to bring up the station menu. Scroll down to the station
you want to dock at and click dock.
Once you have docked, pause 5 seconds
Move your ore from your cargo hold to the ship hanger floor, hold down the Ctrl key and hit the Z key end your capture.
Edit your new macro so it will repeat itself 1000 times.
Start up your new macro and go to bed, when you wake up your hanger floor will be full of ore.
Cheers
